Introduction | pine oil alcohol is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of eugenol, stilbenes and coumarins. Gum benzoin contains a large amount of pine alcohol and its esters. It is found in both gymnosperms and angiosperms. Two other lignin monomers are found in angiosperms and grasses: sinapinol and coumarol. It is a residual queen pheromone (QRP), a bee pheromone found in the mandibular gland. |
biological activity | Coniferyl alcohol is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of eugenol, stilbene and coumarin. |
